Performance artist, activist and comic Peterson Toscano will present an original one-person comedy that explores gender, sexuality, faith and climate change. Rather than dole out the typical gloom and doom, shame and guilt about global warming messages, Toscano challenges audiences to pursue community-building as he helps them connect climate change to everything from immigration to a cup of coffee.

The performance will be followed by Q&A and refreshments. Through his one-person comedies and lively lectures, Toscano has delighted audiences throughout North America, Europe and Africa as he takes on social justice concerns. Toscano is not an environmentalist, but he is concerned about climate change as a human rights issue. His plays and talks humorously explore the serious topics of LGBTQ issues, sexism, racism, privilege, gender and climate change.

This performance is presented by the Paula Lerner Visiting Artist Program at Beth El Temple Center. Paula Lerner, our dear friend and former temple member, died of breast cancer in 2012 at the age of 52. An award-winning photographer and journalist, Paula was ceaselessly curious about the world and people. Each year, Beth El Temple Center invites an inspiring artist or group of artists to come and share their art with us.
