"Farewell, Mr. Haffmann" (Promotional still)

Paris, 1941: Joseph Haffmann (Daniel Auteuil, “Manon of the Spring,” “Jean de Florette”), a Jewish jeweler, helps his family flee the city, with plans to immediately follow them. In haste, Joseph offers his employee François (Gilles Lellouche, “The Connection”) the deed to his store and apartment above it, with the promise that ownership will revert to him once the war ends.

When Haffmann can’t escape, he seeks protection from his former employee and his wife Blanche (Sara Giraudeau, “The Bureau”). Tensions rise as the three live in fear of being discovered by the Nazi occupiers. This gripping, morally complex thriller about greed, survival, and courage is replete with Faustian bargains and surprisingly dramatic plot turns.

Audience Award for Best Narrative Film: San Francisco Jewish Film Festival 2022, Cleveland Jewish Film Festival 2022 and Aspen FilmFest 2022.

This film is screening in-person and virtually as part of the 34th annual Boston Jewish Film Festival.
