The Handel + Haydn Society presents an uplifting concert for justice and peace, honoring the many voices of Boston and highlighting those of the Jewish and black communities.

Led by Reginald Mobley and presented in partnership with Unitarian Universalist Urban Ministry and Union United Methodist Church.

This is a free event but advance reservations are required.

“This year we’re shoring up focus on two important communities in Boston. Framed by so many forms of scrutiny and persecution, the Jewish community and the black community live actively in the public consciousness for the senseless painful and violent actions that are visited upon them daily. But since music is a force that communicates and reinforces the will of a people, we’d like to remind everyone of the resilience and brilliance of these communities, reflected through some of their music from as early as the 17th century to modern times. Let this remind us all to keep this culture and beauty present as a part of the current narrative, as much as the pain experienced by these communities.”
—Reginald Mobley, director and countertenor

About Handel + Haydn Society

Boston’s Handel + Haydn Society is dedicated to performing baroque and classical music with a freshness, a vitality and creativity that inspires all ages. The fact that H+H has been captivating audiences for 205 consecutive seasons (the most of any performing arts organization in the United States), speaks to its singular success at converting new audiences to this extraordinary music, generation after generation. H+H performed the “Hallelujah” chorus from Handel’s “Messiah” in its first concert in 1815, gave the American premiere in 1818 and ever since has been both a musical and civic leader in the Boston community.
