In this coming-of-age drama, 12-year-old Maurice Gutman is taken to Garches Hospital to treat a broken leg and narrowly escapes the round-up of Jewish people, including his family, in France in July 1942. He is also diagnosed with tuberculosis, which requires long-term treatment, and he forms a close bond with other boys in the ward. But what if the diagnosis is just a ruse to avoid the Jewish boy being sent to the camps? Based on a true story, Maurice and eight other young patients live through an unforgettable experience, full of friendship, resilience and bravery of youth (95 minutes; subtitles).
