Rachel Hammerman found her way to Massachusetts some 12ish years ago. Many years of residing in typically “less Jewish” neighborhoods impressed upon her a deep appreciation for the mezuzah as a kind of quiet calling card.

For the past four years, Rachel has been engrossed in the art of mezuzah-making, playing with how and what it means to hang a marker of one’s history in the threshold (literally) of one’s present reality. She’s influenced by old master drawings, well-captioned cartoons and the drive to combine a thousand moments into one.

Join us for a tour of Rachel’s studio, and she may even give you some tips on how to make your own mezuzah!
