Join us for the 18th annual Martin Luther King Jr. breakfast featuring the Rev. Mariama White-Hammond. In her talk, “From Hip-Hop Activist to Just Transition Pastor: One Woman’s Journey to Live at the Intersections,” Rev. White-Hammond will discuss her own journey from teenage leader of Project HIP-HOP to preeminent climate justice activist and civil and human rights minister, and how it relates to the sacred and joyful work of tearing down silos—not only in the world, but in our communities and in our own hearts.

Rev. White-Hammond is the founding pastor of New Roots AME Church in Dorchester. She has received numerous awards, including the Barr Fellowship, the Celtics Heroes Among Us, the Roxbury Founders Day Award and the Boston NAACP Image Award. She was selected as one of the Grist 50 Fixers for 2019 and Sojourners 11 Women Shaping the Church.

The breakfast is co-sponsored by Congregation Beth Elohim’s social action group Na’aseh (“we will act”) and racial justice working group. Admission is free and open to the public. No registration required.
