While in Boston spring might be no more than a distant memory, in Israel the bare branches of the almond trees are just beginning to blossom.

On the 15th of Shvat, we celebrate the birthday of the trees, Tu B’Shvat. Rabbinic intern Carrie will be just returning from a month in Israel, and she’ll be bringing back with her many goodies to host a Tu B’Shvat seder!

The seder is a 500-year-old Kabbalistic tradition of bringing spiritual awareness to eating and enjoying the fruits of the trees. We’ll learn some Kabbalah, try a Kabbalistic meditation and pray for a deep and lasting peace in Israel.

We’ll also be learning how to make sahlab, a special Arab and Israeli winter drink with ingredients brought directly from Israel!
