As the early manifestations of the climate crisis are already descending upon our generation, the stories we tell in this moment are critical to activating our communities, defining our leadership and forming strong connections that inspire those around us to commit to change.

Teen activists and youth group members have long been at the forefront of major social change efforts within the Jewish community; join us for an interactive workshop where we hear the stories of NFTY and JYCM activists, who will engage attendees in practicing the art of telling our climate stories so that you all can become leaders of this burgeoning Jewish youth movement.

A partnership between JYCM and NFTY, the event is a private event for the members of each organization. We will begin by sharing one to three examples of social justice stories from with the organizations, followed by a short presentation on the Jewish stake in the climate crisis and how to practice public narrative (a structure for telling stories to a group, prominent within political, social justice and community-based organizing culture).

Then, we will utilize breakout rooms, facilitated by JYCM and NFTY teen leaders, in which participants work on and practice their climate stories using the public narrative framework. We will close by welcoming anyone to share the story they started to develop and sharing our intention for further collaboration between NFTY with the youth group’s commitment to focusing on climate action in 2021.
