Rabbi Sharon Shalom was born in Ethiopia and later made Aliyah to Israel in 1982. He is a graduate of the Har Ezion Hesder Yeshiva, through which he served as an infantry officer in the Israeli Army and later worked in the army educational system. He received his rabbinic ordination from the Chief Rabbinate of Israel and is currently completing his doctorate at Bar Ilan University, with a focus on Jewish customs and practices, particularly those of the Ethiopian community. A member of the Tzohar and Beit Hillel rabbinic organizations, Rabbi Shalom serves as the spiritual leader of Congregation K’doshei Yisrael, a synagogue founded by Holocaust survivors in his hometown of Kiryat Gat in Southern Israel.
