Are you working in an industry that is changing and where job opportunities are shrinking? Are you bored or frustrated at work? Or are you returning to the job market after a break?

Join JVS CareerSolution in Newton this fall for Shifting Gears: A Four-Part Workshop to Help you Through a Career Transition. In this series of late afternoon workshops you will learn about all of the steps involved, no matter which stage you’re in: the early stages of your career, returning to the workforce after an absence, or considering making a significant career change.

Enroll in the full series, or in any single session. All sessions take place on Wednesdays from 4-6 p.m. at JVS CareerSolution, 61 Chapel St., Newton.

Workshop 1 – Change and Transition | Wednesday, October 25
As you enter into the career planning process of shifting gears, it is worthwhile to take stock of where you are and where you want to be. It is also worthwhile to understand the transition process as it relates to you and your career decisions. Attend this workshop to gain a better understanding of how you manage transitions, and then begin to apply what you learn directly to your career planning and management process.

Workshop 2 – Self-Assessment | Wednesday, November 1
An integral part of the career planning process is engaging in self-discovery – understanding who you are and what are the important elements to consider as you contemplate a career transition, large or small. Attend this workshop and start the self-assessment process using exercises and strategies that will reveal information about your skills, values, interests, motivators, past influences, and possible barriers to success.

Workshop 3 – Strengthen Your Resume and LinkedIn Profile | Wednesday, November 8
As you clarify your career direction, you will need to convey information about yourself to others in a clear and cogent way. Attend this workshop and begin to create the materials you need to communicate who you are: a working resume that articulates your best attributes and skills, and a up-to-date LinkedIn profile that elaborates on what you bring to your next career move.

Workshop 4 – Informational Interviewing and Networking | Wednesday, November 15
You have clarified your career direction and you have created collateral material that will demonstrate to the world that you have something to offer. How do you build your network and share the knowledge you have about yourself to make the best impression? Attend this workshop and learn about the most effective ways to leverage relationships, and to reach out to those who can support you to be the most valuable job search candidate you can be.
