Singing/Repairing the World – Southern Freedom Movement

The Temple Sinai Adult Education Committee begins its programming year with a presentation by Dr. Cheryl C. Boots and Rabbi Michael Schwartz entitled “Singing and Repairing the World in the Southern Freedom Movement and the Volunteers Inspired by the Teachings of Torah, the Hebrew Bible.”

Refreshments will be served.

Cheryl C. Boots, Ph.D., is a retired professor of humanities and American studies at Boston University, singer/songwriter, and researcher of the songs that influence American racial justice movements.

Rabbi Michael J. Schwartz is the senior rabbi at Temple Sinai of Swampscott and Marblehead. Rabbi Schwartz’s father-in-law was a Freedom Rider.
