When Ohio-born Pru Steiner arrives in New York in 1976, she follows in a long tradition of young people determined to take the Big Apple by storm. She quickly falls in love with and marries Spence Robin, her hotshot Shakespeare professor, but after 30 years of marriage she recognizes that something is very wrong with her beloved husband. With their daughter away at medical school, Pru struggles on her own to care for Spence and meets a new man, and the possibility of new romance blooms.
“Morningside Heights” is a sweeping and compassionate novel about a marriage surviving immeasurable hardship. It’s about religion, faith, love, parenting and what endures when life turns out differently than we imagined.
