Moishe, a disgraced Hasidic wedding comedian, needs one last gig to raise the $20,000 required to marry off his daughter and reclaim his former glory. When his childhood best friend, Yisroel Bomchik, returns home for his son’s wedding, Moishe convinces him to let him co-host the celebration alongside a younger, flashier entertainer. But when the seasoned performers clash, the wedding proceedings quickly spiral out of control.
New England premiere.
The screening includes “The Holiness,” a New England premiere about a religious Jewish couple who secretly indulge in a secular lifestyle behind closed doors—until their daughter unexpectedly walks in on them watching television on Shabbat.
The program will be followed by a conversation with “The Wedding Entertainer” actor Malky Goldman, moderated by Dr. Shayna Weiss, Interim Director, Schusterman Center for Israel Studies at Brandeis University.
