While the Ten Commandments might seem to be the least controversial text in the Bible—it’s just ten commandments, after all—everything about it, in fact, is problematic.

This talk will deal with a number of those problems but will concentrate on the most mysterious feature of the Ten Commandments: What did the tablets on which they were inscribed look like?

Led by David Stern, Harry Starr Professor of Classical and Modern Jewish and Hebrew Literature at Harvard University.
