About

One of the longest-operating synagogues in Massachusetts serving Chelsea and surrounding communities since 1909 at the corner of Walnut and Fourth Streets.

Mission

The Walnut Street Synagogue is the center for Jewish history, education and culture serving Chelsea, Greater Boston and beyond and is the historic home of Congregation Agudas Sholom.

Description

Our historic landmark building opened in 1909 and is on the National Register for Historic Places.  We tell the story of Jewish history in Chelsea and Greater Boston through tours and community events.

We promote Jewish education and provide cultural opportunities through in-person and virtual programs in collaboration with partners in the community and nationwide.

Through Congregation Agudas Sholom – we hold traditional religious services, join with community partners for holiday celebrations and  support Tikkun Olam (repair the world) projects in Chelsea and Greater Boston.
