5777 High Holy Day Tashlich Service at Newton City Hall

October 3, 2016 Newton Free 0

This brief 4:00 p.m. ceremony takes place on the grounds of Newton City Hall.  We read poems, say some prayers and share thoughts focusing on rededicating ourselves to making better choices in the new year.  At the end of the service, we take crumbs from our pockets (or plastic bags), and cast them into the water, symbolizing the purging of our sinful habits and our striving to be the best people possible.  It is a family time, and children have fun feeding the ducks, having shed “temple clothes” for more comfortable and casual attire
