Come together with Rabbi Katy Allen and the Rev. Fran Bogle for an interfaith exploration of the Book of Lamentations and prayers, readings, and reflections on communal mourning. Based on the Jewish fast day of Tisha B’Av, the ninth of the month of Av, which marks the destruction of the First and Second Temples, this evening of ritual, study, and sharing will provide a context for our own modern communal grief about the destruction of the planet.

The evening will begin at 7 p.m. with an optional short walk down to the Sudbury River, followed at 7:30 p.m. by the service, study, and reflection time in Edwards Hall. The evening will end no later than 9 p.m.

Rabbi Katy Allen is the founder and rabbi of Ma’yan Tikvah – A Wellspring of Hope, the Facilitator of One Earth Collaborative at Open Spirit, and President pro-tem of the Jewish Climate Action Network. Rev. Dr. Fran Bogle is a Community Chaplain with the Community Chaplaincy Council and directs the Just Peace Players Liturgical Drama Troupe.

All are welcome. Please click “Go” to RSVP. The event is free but donations are suggested.
