Beauty and Wisdom: An Overview of the History and Culture of Sephardi Judaism.

March 30, 2014 Sudbury

Congregation B’nai Torah hosts a Lecture with Rabbi Boaz Heilman: “Beauty and Wisdom:  An Overview of the History and Culture of Sephardi Judaism.”  Come join us on Sunday March 30th at 10am for this event.

Jews lived in Spain since King Solomon’s time, nearly 3,000 years ago.  Despite oppression and persecution, the Judeo-Spanish community grew and thrived, particularly after the Islamic conquest of Iberia.  In 1492, this venerable community came to an abrupt end.  Expelled from Spain, the Jews took with them their rich heritage. Wherever they went—to North Africa, South-Eastern Europe, Turkey, the Netherlands, to the New World and then to the modern State of Israel—the exiles took their customs and traditions and made them flourish again. This is the story of survival despite all odds, the story of the Sephardi Jews. All are welcome.  There is no charge for admission.  Refreshments will be served. We are located at 225 Boston Post Road, Sudbury. For more information visit the temple’s website at or call 978-443-2082.
