When Ronen Matalon overhears a Jerusalem tour guide offering a sanitized version of his hometown’s recent history, he’s inspired to design a “terror tour.” His tour, which visits the sites of famous bombings, provides a droll take on the absurdity of everyday life amidst frequent terror attacks.

When he meets Asia, an ex-Jerusalemite who moved to Barcelona, he begins to heal from the trauma that propels his tours. Deftly blending romantic comedy with the complexities of modern life, “Born in Jerusalem and Still Alive” is a sensitive and hilarious debut from the director, writer and star Yossi Atia.
