Join us for the world premiere of Peter Child’s “Lamentations,” alongside J.S. Bach’s cantatas BWV 2, “Ach Gott, Vom Himmel Sieh Darein,” a cantata never performed in Cantata Singers’ 54-year history, and BWV 21, “Ich Hatte Viel Bekümmernis.”
Inspired by a contemporary poetic translation of the Book of Lamentations from the Old Testament by writer David Rosenberg, “Lamentations” explores the themes of loss and turmoil, also echoed in BWV 2 and 21. “Lamentations” is Cantata Singers’ 15th commission and second commission of Peter Child.
Composer Peter Child will give a pre-concert talk, free to all ticketholders, at 7 p.m. in Williams Hall. Following the performance, all are invited to attend a free post-concert reception.
Tickets are $25-$75. Discounts for students, seniors, and groups. For more information, call 617-868-5885.+ More... - Less...
