Treating all people with dignity is an animating value in the Jewish tradition. Join us as Open Circle partners with Keshet to put this value into practice with and for the LGBTQ community working to uphold protections for transgender people. We will spend time phone banking, canvassing, learning, discussing and organizing to create the world we want to live in. Learning will include sources from both the Jewish tradition and the modern world; actions will support the “Yes on 3” campaign for protecting trans rights in Massachusetts.

Taught by Becky Silverman (he/him), this class is part of Open Circle Social Action, which brings together people in their 20s and 30s for Jewish learning, organizing and activism. Joining together with local organizations fighting for justice and equality on a variety of fronts—immigration, civil rights, gender justice, the environment and more—OCSA invites you to form community, explore foundational values and discover how to put them into action.

This class will be held at a private home in Jamaica Plain on Thursdays from 7-8:30 p.m., from Oct. 16 through Nov. 20.

Tuition assistance is available; don’t let cost be a barrier! For more information, please don’t hesitate to contact Betsy More, director of Open Circle Jewish Learning, at 617-559-8736 or emore@hebrewcollege.edu.

Open Circle Social Action is sponsored by Hebrew College and CJP.
