Join us for “Light in the Dark: Mussar as a Spiritual Resource for Challenging Times” with Rabbi Eric S. Gurvis.

Jewish tradition has many tools upon which we can lean, and to which we can turn, in times when life places obstacles before us. In recent years, many in our Jewish community have been learning about Mussar, which offers us both intellectual and spiritual sustenance. More than merely a set of teachings, as an authentic Jewish spiritual practice, Mussar helps us navigate the heights and depths of living in a complicated world. In our time, Mussar can strengthen our resolve with teachings that can bolster us as we navigate the uncertainties and challenges of everyday life in an ever-changing world. Participants will get a taste of what Mussar can offer us during these challenging times.

Rabbi Eric Gurvis is director of Chaverim & Engagement for The Mussar Institute and rabbi of Sha’arei Shalom, a Jewish congregation serving Ashland and Metrowest. He is a graduate of the University at Albany, with a BA in sociology and Judaic studies, and was ordained as a rabbi at the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in New York. He has served congregations in New York City; Jackson, Mississippi; Teaneck, New Jersey; and Newton, Massachusetts. He trained with The Mussar Institute and is a certified Mussar Va’ad leader.
