Join nationally recognized Jewish food writer Leah Koenig for an author talk about her recently published book, “Portico: Cooking and Feasting in Rome’s Jewish Kitchen” (coming to bookstores September 2023), followed by a cooking demonstration, tasting and book signing.
Shaped by centuries of hardship and a tightly bound community, the Roman Jewish kitchen is defined by its simple-but-elegant approach to vegetables, a love of foods fried in olive oil, saucy braised meats and beguiling desserts.
Leah will demonstrate (and you’ll get to taste) three recipes from the book: Silky Marinated Zucchini (concia), Artichoke Frittata (frittata di carciofi) and Chocolate Marzipan (marzapane al cioccolato). Enjoy home-style cuisine from the Roman-Jewish kitchen.
