As we celebrate the joy and gaiety of Purim, we often overlook the violence that comes at the end of the Purim shpiel. It seems more relevant than ever, given the current national discourse on guns and gun control in the wake of mass shootings, to talk about this lesser-known ending to the happy story. What wisdom can the Jewish tradition offer us in this topsy-turvy time, both on the Jewish calendar and in our everyday life?
