Henri Dauman may be the most famous photographer you’ve never heard of, at least not by name. Dauman’s iconic, sharp, thoughtful photos of artists, world leaders, and significant historical events published in Life and other publications include perfectly-crystalized images of Marilyn Monroe, Andy Warhol, Jackie & John Kennedy, NY architecture, civil rights protesters, and self-immolating Buddhist priests in Vietnam. Dauman himself is an engaging storyteller and recounts his reinvention from an orphaned French Holocaust survivor to one of the 20th century’s preeminent photojournalists.

Director: Peter Kenneth Jones | USA | 2018 | 86 minutes | English & French w/ English subtitles.

New England premiere. Tickets & film program can be found here.
