Award-winning cartoonist and author Roz Chast will be the featured speaker at Jewish Community Housing for the Elderly’s (JCHE) annual gala.

Since 1965, JCHE has been building and managing affordable, nonsectarian housing where seniors of all backgrounds can live independently. They are committed to providing every older adult with the opportunity to live a full life of connection and purpose in a dynamic, supportive environment—what they call Aging in Community.

Chast’s #1 New York Times bestseller Can’t We Talk About Something More Pleasant?, chronicles her relationship with her aging parents as they shift from independence to dependence, and shines a bright light on the importance of JCHE’s work. At the event, she’ll speak about Can’t We Talk…, and her new book Going Into Town: A Love Letter to New York.

Following an activity-filled cocktail hour, dinner, and program, Brookline Booksmith will host an on-site book signing with Roz Chast where copies of her new book will be available for purchase.

We will also be honoring, in memoriam, Helen Kass, who served on JCHE’s board from 1984-2016. She was a very special person with a deep commitment to the Jewish community. It will be a very moving tribute.
