As a Ruderman partner synagogue, we will be hosting an inclusion Shabbat designed to raise awareness on the issues, the challenges, the successes and the impact of inclusion on and within our community.

The rabbi’s sermon, the Nosh & Drash and the students of the Center for Jewish Education (CJE) are all focused on this subject.

The rabbi’s sermon is entitled “Inclusion: The Jewish Imperative.”

The Nosh & Drash topic is “Becoming A Deeply Inclusive Community: Our Challenges, Our Realities, and Our Vision,” led by Shir Lanu and chairwomen Michele Tamaren and Amanda Clayman.

In the CJE, the topic is “Our Community, Our Solutions.” Different grades will be asked to visit specific sites within our building and grounds, to analyze and consider if they are accessible to all and reflect an inclusive community, then to generate suggestions and solutions.

During the congregational kiddush luncheon, each table will have table discussion starter cards with questions that ask people to reflect on their morning’s experience and whether various elements of the community are truly inclusive or if we are still striving to reach our ideal. (Spoiler alert: we are!)

Come for as much as interests you—and be sure to stay for our delicious communal kiddush luncheon.
