Research-Based Strategies for Parents: Creating Inclusive Family Dynamics Where Every Child Thrives
Families with neurodivergent children are rich with strength, creativity, and resilience, and they also navigate unique and complex dynamics. When one child has additional support needs, siblings often carry emotions and responsibilities that can shape their development.
This workshop will explore research-informed strategies for parents and caregivers to support all siblings in neurodivergent families, with a focus on building connection, balance, and understanding at home.
Led by expert Monica Werner, LCPC, we will engage with current research on sibling experiences and examine practical, real-world tools that you can integrate into everyday family life.
Together, we’ll look at how to foster healthy family dynamics, create an inclusive home environment, and respond thoughtfully to the diverse needs of each child, including siblings who may feel overlooked, over-responsible, or unsure of their role within the family system.
We will emphasize how to translate evidence-based insights into accessible practices that support emotional well-being and strengthen relationships.
In this workshop, participants will explore:
- Research on sibling experiences in neurodivergent families
- Practical strategies for supporting emotional, social, and developmental needs of all children
- Tools for fostering connection, communication, and inclusion at home
- Ways to integrate research-based insights into everyday family experiences
By centering both research and lived experience, this session offers parents and caregivers of neurodivergent children a better understanding of sibling dynamics and a compassionate framework for ensuring that every child in their family feels seen, supported, and valued.
