March 30, 2023 Brookline $25.00 - $50.00
Julian Milkis (Courtesy photo)

Hear the swinging tunes made by and for Benny Goodman, as played by his only living pupil, Ukrainian-born clarinetist Julian Milkis, pianist Maxim Lubarsky and his trio.

Milkis, together with a trio led by Berklee professor Maxim Lubarsky (who, like Julian, was born in Odesa, Ukraine), will take us on a journey into the enchanting musical world of the American clarinetist and bandleader called the “King of Swing.”

Julian will share personal stories about Goodman while playing traditional jazz and classical music from Benny’s repertoire. The program will include pieces by Alec Templeton, Dick Hyman, Morton Gould, Gordon Jenkins, Astor Piazzola, W.A. Mozart, Faina Lushtak, Alexey Shor, Alexander Tsfasman and more.
