What’s better than a free concert, workshops and a dance party with some of the best klezmer musicians in the country?

Klezmerpalooza is the college klezmer festival. This year is the 10th iteration of the festival, the 20th anniversary of the first Klezmerpalooza and the 40th anniversary of the first klezmer jam sessions at NEC, which led to the birth of the Klezmer Conservatory Band and ushered in the klezmer revival in Boston. We have a lot to celebrate!

The festival consists of three basic parts: an opening concert featuring an all-star group of professional klezmer musicians on Saturday, March 9, a series of workshops in the morning and afternoon of March 10 and a dance party featuring the student bands in the evening of March 10.

All events are free and open to the public at New England Conservatory’s Burns Hall at 255 St. Botolph St. in Boston.

The musicians for the Saturday night concert are as follows:

  • Hankus Netsky
  • Michael Winograd
  • Rachel Lemisch
  • Judith Berkson
  • Zach Mayer
  • Ezekiel’s Wheels Klezmer Band (Abigail Reisman, Jonathan Cannon, Kirsten Lamb, Nat Seelen and Pete Fanelli)
  • The NEC Jewish Music Ensemble

On Sunday, founding Klezmer Conservatory Band member and well-known klezmer musician and cantor Jeff Warschauer will join as a workshop leader.
