SAVE THE DATE for the   L’Chaim Group of Temple Emanuel’s  slide show  essay presentation by
David Greenfield, along with Daniel Mandeau, of the Temple Emanuel  Brotherhood,   entitled “A WEEK IN THE LIFE OF A SAR-EL VOLUNTEER FOR ISRAEL: AN EXPERIENCE LIKE NO OTHER.” , on Tuesday,April 1st, at 1pm, in Reisman Hall at Temple Emanuel, 385 Ward Street, Newton Centre.
This past May, David Greenfield and Danny Mandeau served as Sar-el volunteers in Israel, a division of Volunteers For Israel.  The organization places men and women on IDF bases to perform civilian support services. This labor force reduces the demand for non-military support work that either soldiers or hired civilian employees would have to perform. In the process, the Israeli economy saves millions of shekels. The program started in the early 1980’s during the first Lebanon War when there was an acute manpower shortage due to the massive call-up of reserves. During this  week of service,  David Greenfield  regularly photographed the experience with Danny Mandeau  as the subject. The result is a photo-essay of a week in the life of a volunteer. That essay is the basis for the presentation.

Please join  us, seniors and all members of Temple Emanuel family, for another event  on Tuesday , April 1st,  at 1pm.   For any further questions, please call Tracy  at  617-564-0646617-564-0646617-564-0646617-564-0646   or Doris at  617-244-3752617-244-3752617-244-3752617-244-3752  or email
