Lunch & Learn: Jewish Ethics in a Modern World with Layah Lipsker

This series will look at Jewish law and tradition in the area of personal ethics, including end-of-life issues, fertility, homosexuality, abortion, and business ethics. Bring your lunch, and the Vilna will provide drinks and dessert.

Layah currently teaches for Kevah, Hebrew College, the Jewish Learning Institute, and the Jewish Renaissance Project. A research associate at the Hadassah Brandeis Institute since 2012, Layah is working on research and support around Jewish divorce and is a member of the newly established Boston Agunah Taskforce.

The series can be prorated if joining mid-session.

The Vilna Shul and Hebrew College never turn anyone away due to inability to pay. If finances are of concern, please email Betsy More.

Vilna Shul offers $5 validated parking after 4 p.m. and on weekends. Parking validation is only good for the underground parking at the Charles River Plaza/ Cambridge Street Garage at 165 Cambridge Street. Entrance to the underground garage is between the Charles River Plaza Shopping Center (Whole Foods/CVS) and Au Bon Pain, near the intersection of Blossom St and Cambridge St. Yellow tickets from the surface lot at Whole Foods cannot be validated. 

The Vilna Shul, Boston’s Center for Jewish Culture, is Boston’s only landmark historic Jewish building. Today, it serves as a modern-day cultural center and living museum in downtown Boston.
