The film Mekonen: Journey of an African Jew, tells the story of Mekonen Abebe, once a shepherd in Ethiopia, now a commander in the Israeli Defense Forces. The movie traces his journey from his homeland, through his difficult adjustment to Israeli society and his new life as a decorated commander in the IDF.
