Mobilizing for Religious Freedom in Israel with Mickey Gitzin, Executive Director of NIF Grantee Israel Hofshit (Be Free Israel)

October 30, 2014 Brookline

Under Mickey’s leadership, Israel Hofshit, in partnership with the New Israel Fund, works to generate public pressure on Israeli decision-makers on matters religion and state where there is no separation. Since Israeli Jews generally must utilize the ultra-Orthodox rabbinate for all life cycle events, including marriage and divorce, Mickey created a coalition of six groups to advance the campaign for freedom of choice in marriage. Mickey will talk about how his organization uses social change to advance the cause of civil marriage and religious pluralism in Israel.
