The New Israel Fund presents a conversation between a shining light of Israeli film and television and an Orthodox feminist leader. Join Yehonatan Indursky, creator of the critically acclaimed Netflix drama “Shtisel,” and Shira Ben-Sasson Furstenberg, NIF associate director in Israel, for an urgent conversation on the major political and social changes taking place within Israel and the possibilities for radical inclusion in Israeli art and politics.

We are honored to be joined by Rabbi Allison L. Berry, co-senior rabbi of Temple Shalom, who will facilitate our program.

Using clips from the show, Yehonatan will share a behind-the-scenes perspective on Israel’s changing ultra-Orthodox community. In this boundary-breaking conversation, Yehonatan and Shira will discuss the rapidly evolving issues facing the Haredi community, how these issues impact Israeli society at large and how art and culture can bridge societal divides to ultimately promote progressive change.
