Join us for two events in the coming months that are part of the “Drivers of Israeli Democracy” series in Boston.

Part 1: Social and Economic Justice on the Eve of the Election
Monday, April 8

NIF’s former Shatil director, Ronit Heyd, will be talking about the bread-and-butter issues facing Israeli society. Through facilitated discussion and select segments from the award-winning Israeli documentary “The Silver Platter,” Ronit will illustrate key factors contributing to economic inequality in Israel today and how these factors impact society at large.

Part 2: Pluralism and Religious Freedom in Israel
Wednesday, June 12

NIF’s associate director in Israel, Shira Ben Sasson Furstenberg, will discuss religious freedom issues in the aftermath of the April elections. A true expert in this field, Shira will explore the issues facing Jewish Israelis as a result of the rabbinate’s monopoly and increased religiosity in Israeli society, and what this means for the democratic character of the state.
