Take an embodied journey through the arc of the Shabbat-morning prayer service and the wisdom of the week’s Torah portion. Guided by conscious-dance facilitator Joel Stanley, we’ll move through a set of Jewish and Middle Eastern music—everything from global diaspora beats to Jewish meditational music, from Sephardi devotional chant to the latest music coming out of Israel and Palestine.

Our time will be light on words and heavy on movement, so dress comfortably. There are no set steps and no dance experience is required; all bodies are welcome. We’ll begin with 20-30 minutes of warm-up and intention-setting and end around noon, with a closing circle, including a bit of Torah from Asiyah’s Rabbi David Curiel.

We’ll close our structured time together with kiddush, but will keep the Zoom room open a bit longer for those who’d like to eat and schmooze.

This program is made possible with support from CJP.
