Simon, recently released from a psychiatric hospital, is about to become a father and his wife, Rivkah, a rabbi, is unconvinced that he is ready. Meanwhile, Rivkah’s young student, Théodore, is secretly studying for his bar mitzvah and hoping his father will show up. When, on the big day, Théodore runs away from the synagogue, Simon sees an opportunity to change Rivkah’s mind about him, and follows Théodore.
