Shir Joy Chorus will present its spring concert, “Songs From the Heart: Timeless Traditions in Jewish Music,” a concert of Jewish music that will include part songs, rounds and a sing-along.
Lisa Marcus-Jones will provide the piano accompaniment and Karen Rothman will be featured on the clarinet. A women’s group will perform the heartwarming contemporary piece “May I Suggest,” and the full chorus will perform in English, Ladino and Hebrew. The selections will include a Sephardic folk song, Israeli dances, a setting of Psalm 150, a hymn by Earl Scruggs’ son, Randy, spirituals and a Yemenite melody set to poetry from the 10th century in Hebrew with Arabic meter.+ More... - Less...
