Come learn the Jewish customs and ways of visiting a Jewish cemetery with Rabbi Joshua Segal. We will meet at the Baker Street Jewish Cemeteries, which is close by, just over the Newton line in Boston. The complex consists of 40 cemeteries; some are associated with specific synagogues, some with fraternal organizations and some with Landsmannschaft (German fraternities). The tour will include a description of cemetery iconography, tombstone formats, sites of book burials and more.

The tour will be led by Rabbi Segal, a member of TE and rabbi emeritus of Congregation Betenu in Amherst, New Hampshire. Rabbi Segal is the author of many books on cemeteries, including “A Field Guide to Visiting a Jewish Cemetery.”
