Local authors Jenna Blum and Randy Susan Meyers discuss writers working with obsessions—obsessions about being a Jewish woman writing, cultural issues with food, obsessions with body images and societal obsessions in the 21st century. Randy will read from her recently released book, “Waisted,” and Jenna will reveal what she is working on.

Jenna Blum is the author of the novels “The Lost Boys,” “Those Who Save Us” and “The Stormchasers.” She was also voted one of Oprah’s Top 30 Women Writers. Jenna is based in Boston, where she earned her MA from Boston University and has taught fiction and novel workshops for Grub Street Writers for 20 years. Randy Susan Meyers’ novels have twice been chosen by the Massachusetts Center for the Book as “Must Read Fiction.” Publishers Weekly described her fourth novel, “The Widow of Wall Street,” as “An engaging and sharp reflection of the rapid changes in marital dynamics over the course of the 20th century, as well as a cautionary tale about the dangers and allure of ambition in the heyday of Wall Street.” “Accidents of Marriage” was a People Magazine pick. Her debut, “The Murderer’s Daughters,” was the Target National Book Club Pick. Meyers teaches writing at Grub Street in Boston and Writers in Progress in Western Massachusetts.
