Before WWII, Breslau was home to Germany’s third-largest Jewish community and the young Jews there had promising futures. Then, Hitler came to power. Some escaped, others managed to survive the concentration camps. Meet 14 of the survivors, including Orchard Cove resident Esther Adler, as they remember Breslau and the events that followed their exile. Many survivors made significant contributions to the founding and building of the State of Israel. The film follows a few survivors as they return to Breslau (now Wroclaw) to visit a new Jewish community that is developing there, linking what was irrevocably lost to a chance for new beginnings.
Followed by a Q&A with Esther Adler, film protagonist and Orchard Cove resident, and directors Karin Kaper and Dirk Szuszies.
