Join two challah-baking experts (mom and camper!) who will demonstrate a few challah-braiding techniques—ranging from beginner to expert level. Learn about the tradition of challah-baking and how it has lasted, sustained and nourished the Jewish people for thousands of years. Your challah will be ready to eat on Shabbat!

We will not be making challah dough, so come with prepared dough or Play-Doh, clay or thick yarn to practice the braids.

Materials:

  • Prepared dough (make your own, pick some up from your local bakery or use pizza dough from the grocery store!)
  • Your favorite toppings (sweet: sprinkles, chocolate chips, cinnamon sugar, or savory: sesame seeds, poppy seeds, za’atar, everything bagel seasoning)

For grades 4-7 with their families.

This experience is brought to you by URJ Olin-Sang-Ruby Union Institute.
