Join us for a live recording of Sci-Tech’s new podcast! Our third “Meet the Experts” lineup will focus on the world of science. We’ve all done science experiments to test the world around us, but what does it mean to learn so much about a specific scientific topic that you complete a Ph.D. in it?

Join our experts as they share with us why they decided to pursue doctoral research and how their perspectives on science have changed over the years. They will also talk about the role that Judaism has played in choosing and journeying through their current profession. The best part? You’ll get to ask them questions too!

Sam and Maddy will talk about how scientific research works and the joys and challenges of their post-doctoral life. Sam and Maddy were both pioneer staff members at SciTech and both completed their Ph.D.s this year, Sam at MIT and Maddy at Harvard. Sam worked on understanding early HIV infection on the single-cell level, while Maddy explored how immunity is conferred from mother to child during pregnancy. Sam is about to start a joint postdoctoral fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School, where he plans to investigate how immunity develops in the nose to fight respiratory infections. Maddy just started at the Fred Hutch Institute in Seattle, working on COVID-19.
