Contact Rav Tiferet (Friend of Bill W.) at ravtiferet@tbzbrookline.org if you’re interested and to learn more, and email Jewish12Steps@tbzbrookline.org to join our mailing list! This weekly event is online, in partnership with Our Jewish Recovery.
Each week we meet to explore the steps common to all 12-step recovery programs, such as Alcoholics Anonymous, from a Jewish perspective, using the book “Twelve Jewish Steps to Recovery: A Personal Guide to Turning From Alcoholism and Other Addictions — Drugs, Food, Gambling, Sex…”
We read a chapter, share our experience, strength, and hope from our journeys, and make connections to our practices of Jewish living. Conversations can touch on struggles with Purim and alcohol, Shabbat as a sugar addict, or the strong connections between the steps of teshuva (repentance) and the 12 Steps.
This meeting welcomes all. You do not have to identify as an addict or a family member of an addict. You don’t even have to be Jewish! If you are interested in having conversations about the 12 Steps, recovery, and Judaism, you have come to the right place!
