Chama Mechtaly is a Moroccan artist living between Boston, Casablanca, and Dubai. Her work started as a response to an identity crisis startled by her discovery of Morocco’s Amazigh history. Using painting and photography as her media, she explores North Africa’s ethnic and religious diversity and reinvents the orientalist paintings of Maghreban women. Her new and captivating design for the Elie Wiesel Center will be launched at the show following the Religious Identities in Modern Mediterranean Lecture Series
