Starting Sunday evening, May 3, 2026, we will begin the study of the tractate of Chullin, which is the third tractate in Seder Kodshim (“Order of Sacrifices”).

Chullin comprises 12 chapters detailing laws for non-consecrated consumption of animals and birds, including ritual slaughter, distinguishing kosher from non-kosher creatures, covering blood, and prohibitions like mixing meat and dairy and slaughtering a parent and its offspring on the same day. Its final chapter addresses the mitzvah of shiluach hakein—sending away a mother bird when taking her young or eggs.

The class meets on Zoom, no preparation or prior Talmud experience is required, and it is presented in English. We use the sefaria.org page to allow everyone to follow along.
