Mussar is a centuries-old Jewish spiritual practice that helps us learn to be the best versions of ourselves by finding a balance between extremes. It aspires to help one develop an inner awareness and bring about the transformation of the soul, so that a person becomes the finest version of the person they already are.
This course is an introduction to the practice through a year-long study of individual middot (values), such as humility (anavah) and compassion (rachamim), and it will help participants cultivate a spiritual mussar practice. We will study themes and cite examples within our sacred text and explore different methods of achieving balance in our hectic and fast-paced lives. With Rabbi Laura Abrasley.
