Join artist Siona Benjamin and the Wyner Family Jewish Heritage Center, in partnership with the Jewish Arts Collaborative, for an intimate and lively evening about the connections between art, heritage and history.

Using photos that showcase both the history of the 2,000-year old Indian Jewish community as well as from her own family album, Siona will talk about her childhood growing up in a Bene Israel Jewish family in multicultural India, and how this has influenced her art.

The event includes an Indian buffet dinner. Dietary laws will be observed.

About the Artist

Siona Benjamin grew up in Bombay. In 2011, she was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship, and in 2016 was awarded a second Fulbright Fellowship to Israel. In her paintings, she combines the imagery of her past with the role she plays in America today, making a mosaic inspired by both Indian miniature paintings and illuminated manuscripts. Visit Siona’s website to view some of her work. You can also watch her documentary, “Blue Like Me” (2015), available for streaming on Amazon Prime.
