Most everyone knows that South Boston, the neighborhood that was ruled by legendary crime boss Whitey Bulger, wasn’t your white picket fence suburbia. There were drugs, rival gangs and more than a few murders. Hear from local author Phyllis Karas as she tells the unknown stories of the women behind the scenes who overcame the worst that life can throw at them—physical abuse, addiction and PTSD.
In attendance will be three of the women featured in the book: Anna Weeks, Karen Weeks Rakes and Nancy Young.
